Nathaniel Wright honored with Program Award in the Interdisciplinary Scientist Training Program

Nathaniel Wright, PhD, received the Program Award for Outstanding Performance in the Interdisciplinary Scientist Training Program (ISTP) for his doctoral work in Immunology. He completed his dissertation, BRWD1 Establishes Epigenetic States for Germinal Center Initiation, Maintenance, and Function, under the mentorship of Dr. Marcus Clark. Nathaniel’s research investigated how the chromatin remodeler BRWD1 regulates B cell fate by establishing epigenetic landscapes essential for germinal center responses—key mechanisms underlying long-lived antibody production and immune memory.

Nathaniel entered the MD/PhD program at the University of Chicago with a passion for bridging basic science and clinical medicine. His work in the Clark Lab contributed to a deeper understanding of immune regulation and epigenetics, with implications for vaccine development and autoimmune disease treatment.

Having completed the PhD portion of his dual degree, Nathaniel is now continuing his medical training at the Pritzker School of Medicine, where he aims to integrate his research background with clinical care to advance immunologically-informed patient treatment.
